Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell new Mexico, but fell in love Colorado. He later settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a source of inspiration for many to visit Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver was the initial Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Today, he is the international face of Colorado. On my trips, I've met people from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform people you're from Colorado the first words they'll use are"Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff originally wrote it using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver knew from the first moment he listened to the first versions of the song that it was going to be an instant popular. The song was recorded just a few weeks after the Washington D.C. performance.
