John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he composed, the majority of which were located in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in love with Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired many to visit Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." In 2011 Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. He is now the face of Colorado on the world stage. While traveling, I are likely to meet people from the other end of the world. For example an individual who is from New Zealand. And when you say that you are originally from Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief period of performing with small folk music group included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver heard an early version he knew right away the song could be a hit single. The singer recorded the song within a couple of days after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans on the streets of Washington D.C.
